Valentino Rossi has dominated the first day of the official MotoGP test at the Catalunya circuit. The 7 time champ has been at the top of the timesheets for most of the day and by the end of the session was almost half a second up on his nearest rival of the day, teammate Colin Edwards.
Also of note was Carlos Checa's speed - just seven thousandths of a second off Camel Yamaha rider and second fastest rider of the day Edwards. Given the Tech3 machine is running Dunlop tyres - which are generally significantly slower than their Michelin and Bridgestone equivalents - Checa will be impressing a lot of people with his pace, which has been similar in the winter tests.
