After spending an entire season with some kind of gravel trap magnet attached to his back, can Sete pull himself together for his Ducati ride next year?
Personally I'm not sure. Rossi is definitely an expert when it comes to mind games and had managed to get Gibernau so messed up I'm not sure he can recover. Not to mention the fact almost everyone (or is that everyone, now Barros has left the paddock?) starting next season is younger than him - the guy must be questioning whether he's able to go as fast as he has done any longer.

From what I saw in 2005, Rossi is more than capable of holding off Sete even if he's back to his best next season. Whether or not he can come back after quite a bad year by his standards is questionable, but I hope so..
Frankly I wouldn't bet a thing on Gibernau ever being a championship winner, whatever the odds. At any other time I can imagine him winning a championship but lets face it, this is Rossi's era and with the possible exception of new talent (imho, at least) I don't see anyone stopping him in 2006.
That said, it's perfectly possible for Gibernau to sort his head out and have a good ride on the Ducati, which is not a slow bike by any stretch of the imagination. I did feel sorry for the bloke last year as he couldn't have fallen from the top any further and faster if he tried. Although I don't think he can win a championship he can make up for this year and end on something of a high. I hope for his sake he does.
Personally I'd like to see Gibbers back at the front. He's a super quick rider on his day and the championship needs someone to take the fight to Rossi. Last season was a disaster for him - when he didn't just plain make a mistake he had some terrible luck and i'm interested to see if he can put it behind him.
PS. Hello eveybody :D
Welcome to the boards. :D Tell your friends, etc! ;)
He is definitely a very quick rider on his day and it was the case that he was the only person who could take the fight to Rossi - I don't think that's the case anymore though. The way I see it is that Melandri, Hayden, Pedrosa and the other younger riders are now Rossi's biggest threat. I really think 2006 for Sete is a case of trying to prove he's not a total has-been.
(PS: Do you have to type in blue? :P ;))

I agree, Sete will have to find his old speed or these young guys will eat him alive - Melandri and Elias especially IMO. If he can get along with the machine and the tyres and get his head sorted out (the biggest problem???) he should be easilly capable.
Sete's head is his biggest problem by miles I reckon. He totally cracked last year under the pressure and if he doesn't develop a way to deal with it he needs to get his spot in the retirement home booked.
Hard to believe he was in contention for the quickest qualifying rider for most of the season, yet didn't manage to finish the race more often than not.:eh:
gibernau is fast-but he cannot beat rossi over a season and never will be. at least we might see more rossi fights now-alongside melandri-now he is one to watch for 2006!
cant't wait!!
