It's been announced that Roby Rolfo will ride a Scudderia SC Caracchi 999F05 in World Supers next year, while Max Biaggi may be about to (or just has) signed to ride a works GSX-R - presumably one of the Alstare Corona bikes.
Max on a Gixxer??? God only knows how that will work out. A factory gixxer would definetly be a competive package - but, will he get on with the Pirellis? What about superpole? If it's true then SBK just got a whole load more interesting. :)
From what I can see the Biaggi deal is just a rumour atm but you'd have to say it sounds pretty plausible. Biaggi doing superpole would definitely be interesting.
Y'know I have to say, he might even do a decent job of it if he gets off on the right foot. After his last couple of seasons in MotoGP he doesn't seem to be getting anywhere and frankly he's never been at happy on the GP bikes, so this could be just what the doctor ordered. You'd have to say this is his last chance to be more than 'that 250cc rider who should've stayed put'.
At this rate I'm going to be wanting to watch every MotoGP, SBK and F1 race next year (or at least at the start of the season).
I'd like to see him do well, his age shouldn't really be a problem as long as he's fit enough (two races a day mind you in SBK) as he's still one of the best riders in the world - no question, the fact that he didn't get on with the works V5 last year doesn't mean to me that the guy's in any way past it (as some people believe).
But, as you said it could either be the resurgence of - or the final nail in the coffin or Max's professional riding career depending on how he gets on.
Come on Max!!!! :D
The provisional entry lists for World Superbike, Supersport and Superstock have been put out by the FIM (http://www.fim.ch/en/default.asp). Interestingly there's no mention of Alex Barros, Max Biaggi or even Fosi Nieto but there are three curious TBAs.
It looks like we might be seeing 4 Alstare Suzukis in superbikes next year but none in Supersport so maybe Max will be on one of them but, I was reading MCN earlier today and on of the team was quoted as saying that it was far too late in the day with the first race being only six weeks away.
