After a whole lot of hours the Tourist Trophy replays (http://www.ttbikesim.com/community/) site is live.

I've only just put the finishing touches on it and lap times are still on the to do list, but everything should now be working nicely so it will be much easier to to browse various different replays as well to setup some competitions.

As well as being able to browse by bike and circuit, the search feature makes it possible for you to come up with any weird and wonderful selection of requirements and every replay that matches will be dragged kicking and screaming from the database for your enjoyment.

The 'tag' feature will hopefully come in handy as it will make it possible to share a selection of replays from the same competition or in whatever group you would like. For instance I tagged my recent Trial Mountain replay with 'motodude-tm (http://www.ttbikesim.com/community/bytag.php/motodude-tm) and if everyone else who shared their replay of the Fireblade at Trial Mountain tagged theirs the same they would all appear in the same list.

In addition to the new site I've also added a new forum called the pitlane (http://www.motogpboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=15). This forum will be purely for posting challenges and commenting on other replays and is linked with the new site in that each replay can be linked to a thread on this forum. To get an idea how this works see the 'discuss' link on this replay (http://www.ttbikesim.com/community/single.php/16).

Finally everyone who uploads a replay to the site gets their own profile page (http://www.ttbikesim.com/community/user.php/2) which lists all of the replays they have submitted so far. It is also possible to specify your user ID on the forums when you register at the site, and if you do a link like this will appear on your profile page:
You can send Dom a private message through our forums.
This is a good secure way of making it possible to be contacted as your email address is never seen by whoever sends a message.

I think that's about it for the main features, but if anyone's got any questions about specific things or the inevitable goes and happens and something's broken then let me know. I'll give it a little while to make sure everything's running smoothly and then I'll post a link on the main site as well as in a few other places.

So, what do you reckon? ;)

:D Looking good. I've got a few replays to upload this afternoon...

Thanks Dom!

Glad you like it. :) Cheers for putting some new replays up, I'll have to have a go at those in the next few days.

Oh just one thing, you don't really need to tag them all with 'motodude' as you can already view a list of all of your replays on your profile page (http://www.ttbikesim.com/community/user.php/9). That's just me being picky though. ;)

Yeah, I'll get it figured...

Works great Dom. Good job!

Cheers! Since nothing seems to be spitting out errors or burning my server to the ground so far I think I'll 'officially' open the site tomorrow, which hopefully will result in some more activity on both the site and these 'ere forums.

Yeah that is frustrating, but I can't see any way around it. When I setup the site I experimented with having the REPLAY.DAT files given different names so it would be possible to have more than one, but then TT just can't find them so that went out of the window.

purhapes as well as allowing the replay.dat file, you could allow zip/rar files as well so that we can name the zip/rar file the same as the title of the replay?

btw - my fastest lap around valencia was uploaded last night :)

I initially did have a setup which created files based on the bikename+trackname but that was before I realised the fact everything would have to be renamed. I could allow zip files, but then I wouldn't have thought extracting a zip file is any easier than creating a new folder to save the replay really. The other issue with that is it's impossible to verify what's been uploaded. With the DAT files I can be pretty sure that whatever's uploaded is a TT replay but with zips it could be anything.

I think there are a couple of Valencia laps up now, so it's about time we had a proper 'challenge' for that. :D

If you could upload a replay on the site with a tag like 'mgpb-valencia' or whatever fits and then create a thread in the Pitlane (http://www.motogpboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=15) forum that would be ace. :)

is it possible to edit the replay thats already uploaded?

Dom

Not yet. Hopefully quite soon. :)

(In the meantime I don't mind making the odd change manually, though)

I've edited your Valencia replay to have the tag 'valencia-challenge (http://www.ttbikesim.com/community/bytag.php/valencia-challenge)'. You can also view a list of all the Valencia replays uploaded so far (http://www.ttbikesim.com/community/bycircuit.php/20).

HTH. :)

Right, I've managed to find a couple of hours to day to work on the user control panel side of things. I haven't been able to sort out editing yet but the foundations are laid etc etc. You can now delete your replays if you want to replace them, though.

To do that, login and you will see something like 'You are logged in as Dom | User CP.' in the top right corner. Click on the User CP link and you should then be presented with a list of your replays along with view and delete options. If you do delete a replay the file itself is deleted and any links to the replay page will stop working, so unless you haven't linked to it at all or aren't really fussed you're better off uploading a new replay or using the edit feature which doesn't exist yet. :?

Anyway, it's a start.

Ok cheers, I'll get that changed. :) Tbh I just grabbed a bit list from Google, so I'm not surprised there's the odd mistake.

Dom

Doh, I should've put that in really. I'll try and get it added soon, but no promises. (Not much time going spare atm :()
