Starting a TT Challenge

The first thing you need to do when starting a challenge is to create a topic in the Pitlane forum. In this you should include the following details:

Which track is being used and optionally which bike or type of bikes should be used (eg 2 stroke challenge at Trial Mountain).
If you're going to set any more rules such as the control mode (eg pro only) then you should make it clear in the post.
A 'tag' for the challenge should be given so that all of the replays for this challenge can be grouped together on the site for easy viewing.
If you want to have a deadline so you can declare a winner then please make it clear when that is.

If you have already completed a quick lap for this challenge then please add that as a second post (or edit the first post after the thread's created) so that the thread you created can be used as the 'discuss' link for your replay on the site.

Taking Part in a Challenge

To upload your replay, head over to the TT replays site (http://www.ttbikesim.com/community/) and register an account if you haven't already. Once you've done that you will be able to upload your replay. On the add replay form please use the tag specific to the challenge so that it is easier for people to browse just the related replays. Ideally you should also specify the ID for the challenge topic as the 'discussion link'. The add replay page has more info on this.

Once your replay is uploaded, a page such as this (http://www.ttbikesim.com/community/single.php/16) will be created. You can then post a link to the page or a direct link to the replay file in a reply to the challenge thread.

Sharing General Replays

If you've got a particularly amazing bit of riding or a race replay then great, please share it! I don't see any reason why there should be any specifics as to how this should be done, all I ask is that a topic is posted in the Pitlane forum and not the general TT area. Remember, the more info you provide here the more likely people are to want to watch your replay! Pics could also be a bonus, but aren't a requirement at all.

My goal with all this is to help make sharing replays as simple and fun as possible. I'm not big on setting rules for X and Y but I think these guidelines all make sense and if you do disagree, have any suggestions or comments then feel free to reply here! Ditto if you have any queries about uploading to the site itself.

Cheers,
Dom

I have question. would it be possible to make so that we could edit our replay uploads? That way for instance if I get a better time I won't have numerous replays up, instead I can just replace my original with my updated one. Just a thought. anyway great job with the site

That's the 3rd request in just a couple of days, so I will definitely try and get it sorted ASAP. :)

your computer shouldnt be doing anything with them, but transferring from one source to another (from usb to upload, or download to usb.)

So what's the point of uploadig them onto the site if no one can watch them?

You can watch them, but only through Tourist Trophy itself. So say for the championship, it's possible to download the replay from the site onto a USB stick and then watch it in-game.

There are loads of regular movie files (http://www.ttbikesim.com/files/movies/) up on the site which you can watch on a normal PC though.

Replays...... can only be played on the playstation ( not Your PC )

Pal versions of the game can only play Pal replays.

and vice versa

NTSC can only play NTSC replays

on this site directly load replay to the TTBikeSim database for all to share or use link - SHARE YOUR REPLAYS - theres one @ the top of this page

Or if appropriate add as attachment in a post but on some sites you may have to zip it first.

Downloading you do the opposite - first to your pc then transfer to usb and then to your PS2 and play in replay theatre.

The PDI folder on the USB will only allow 1 replay at a time otherwise the PS2 will not recognise it which unfortunately means alot of trips back and forth

the good news is that it only take a second to download it, the files arent very big. :)

I have problems with downloading replays from USB.
I load replay on USB go in replay theatre, try to download it, but I always get "cannot find appropriate file on the USB flash memory" message.
Where's the problem?

make sure that the replay is named only as REPLAY (rename it as such if it
isn't), and have it in a folder named PDI on your usb flash memory

hopefully that'll sort you :)

also, the usa version (ntsc) cannot view the EU version (pal), or the other way around.
