View Full Version : TTBikeSim championship?

Just a thought really, but would anyone be interested in us starting some kind of championship for TT? We could set out a theme such as the endurance bikes and then pick out maybe 10-15 different 'rounds' for the individual challenges to take place at. Each round could 'open' on a certain date and then we could have say a 2 week window for people to submit their times. Obviously nobody's got all the time (or desire) in the world to be sitting in front of their PS2 all day long, so it would have to be a relatively friendly format for the 'time challenged' of us.

We would then be able to use a points system (eg MotoGP's) to figure out who's in the lead overall and at the end of the championship there would be an overall winner. Not sure if we'd be able to do any particularly fancy prizes although I could at the least offer a 'Championship Name Winner' logo which could appear next to the winner's avatar on the forums. But hell, the taking part's what counts. ;)

Would anyone be interested?

Sure, but if I get second place do I get to be the 1st Loser?

Hehe I'm sure that could be arranged. ;)

Great idea, count me in.

Maybe we could win some vCash? I’m so bad at picking winners that I need another way to build my balance.

Not a problem! The 'v' kind I can spare a bit of.

Edit: Does anyone have any thoughts on bike restrictions? Should we do multiple classes or keep things simple with just one bike type or a total free for all to start with?

Any prize for LAST place? Thats where i'll be. Nothing like an old broke down biker trying to ride a Rice Burner lmao

 I would have thought a some kind of accolade could be possible. Must be careful though, as at this rate everyone will be a winner and we wouldn't want that. ;)

Welcome to the boards btw! :)

Just some random thoughts:

In keeping with a MotoGP theme, how about limiting it to real circuits that are on the MotoGP schedule? What are they, Motegi, Laguna Seca, Valencia? Are there others in TT?

About the bikes, something like your choice of RM class machines? In pro mode only? I’m game for anything, even the scooters. What do you guys think?

All I know is I need a lot of practice. Seeing some of the replays posted lately has me very concerned.

I'm not sure what to do about tracks, really. The three you mention I'd definitely like to use partly because of the MotoGP link and partly because they're all ace tracks. Very random thought, but it might be fun to have them correspond with the actual time their respective GPs take place. I also quite like the idea of the Nurburgring being the final race. ;)

Other than that I'm not really too fussed. How many races would people like to see overall? One consideration is that the EU release is in a month and obviously the more people who can be involved from day one the better.

The other thing to think about is how we'd work out points. If we did it MotoGP style then anyone in the top 15 would get points and currently that is a little excessive.

Uuuuughhhh!!!! ya just had to mention the "Ring"! I guess if ya had a competition about who could make it around the Ring the fastest on their arse, i'd be a shoe in! Thats where i tend to spend the most of my time on that track lol

 I quite honestly suck at the Nurburgring, but it's such a sweet track it'd be a shame to miss out. ;)

lol I agree, it is a sweet track, just every lap i take i have to dodge my butt prints lmao Seriously, i just haven't ran the track that much. One of these days gonna just sit down and spend a day on it.

im interested, so, thoughts:

nordschliefe - no! not unless someone can give me a magic set up to cure the headshake. the 999r rm got so bad over 160mph it stoped respounding to imputs.

bikes - id suggest the 1L rms (r1, gsxr, zx10r, cbr-rr, 999r rm, rsv factory rm, and f41000s rm) and none of the suzuka bikes. each user has a custom number and no one can use a special number until season 2.

tracks - we could run the races in the superbike 1000 championship in the game using single race instead of the championship. (plus, since were in tt mode, we can use custom riding styles and set ups too)

I think it would be interesting. I like the idea of running the 1K RM bikes but it sucks that you can't run regular races in the TT mode  The 1000cc series would be cool but I can't stand the Motegi oval that is the biggest bore.

anyway what is the idea for how it is run? fastest laps? complete race times (which would be kind of hard outside of arcade mode ).

also in regards to tracks I know everyone has their best and worst tracks, but I'm probably in the minority when it comes to those really long tracks like the Nur-ring and some of those ultra tight street courses. For me those courses might be fun to run every once in a while but are either just too long (Nur-ring) and frustratingly stupid for bikes (New York) for me to spend time on trying to get good times on.

I like the real race tracks like (laguna, Motegi, Valencia, etc..... but also some of the originals like Trail Mountain and deep forest.

I know you can't please everyone but if we are going to wait until the EU release lets put thought into this.

I absolutely hate the New York circuit. Tbh I hate all of the 'city tracks' that are actually in cities. Since everyone's going to have different thoughts about tracks, I say we put it to a vote. All we need to do is decide how many races to do in total, and then whichever are the X most voted for circuits, we'll use. Not sure what to do if everything gets 1 vote, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. :P

On the bike front, I'd be happy with the RM litre sportsbikes too.

As far as how winners are picked, I'd be inclined to say with the time from a single lap. That way it is possible to save 'best lap replays' from TT which are easier and quicker to verify, plus it's less effort to manage a quick, clean lap than to manage 3 quick, clean laps. Perhaps if some nutters fancied doing it endurance style we could do that sometime down the road? ;)

I would think a mix of tracks from each would be good, (i.e. a city course, race course etc.) I could be wrong, but seems it might even the playing field a bit. In other words, i might kick but on say Laguna, but not do worth a crap on the Ring, where as Dom might kick butt on the Ring and suck at Laguna. Don't know, just my $.02

if go with TT mode with 1L RM's, then we could be able use races from heavy weight (900cc+), superbike 1000, tt world series, and clubman cup with races ranging from 3 to 7 laps.

dom - id prefer to do multi-laps races since racing its about outright speed since you can still lose if you do one lap a lot faster than the rest if your average laptime is slower than the rest. purhapes we could use races spread out from my list and do qualifing in the free run mode in practise?

first I'd like to officially reserve my entry of the Yamaha R1 RM #5 so no one takes my number! ^_^

I took a look at the tracks and modes and this is really were TT pisses me off because in the TT mode you just can't pick a track and go race it!!!!! You have to either run it as practise (so there is no overall lap tracking) or do one of the series (very limited track selection)

I don't know how many rounds the contest is planning to run but I think that might depend on which method we go either the practise mode fastest lap superpole type contest (more flexibilty trackwise) or the series route (overall times but limited selection). anyway here are my suggestions for tracks (in no particular order). IMHO it's a decent mix of high and low speeds, technical and flowing, as well as flat and elevation changes. A bunch of different challenges that over a course of a contest shouldn't give the advantage to one bike or another.

Mid Field Raceway - Original Circuts (run in clubman series)
Trial Mountain - Original Circuts
Autumn Ring - Original Circuts
Deep Forest - Original Circuts
GRand Valley - Original Circuts (run in Heavyweight series)

Laguna Seca - World Circuts (run in Superbike 1000 series)
Valencia - World Circuts (run in Superbike 1000 series)
Suzuka - World Circuts (run in Superbike 1000 series)
Motegi - World Circuts (run in Superbike 1000 series)

Tokyo Route 246 - City Circut

ill take the #69 rsv factory rm

purhapes instead of having one way or another, we could do both. have an even amount of races with 3 races being hotlap and another 3 being races. but, if we go that way the races should be mininum of 5 laps.

great minds think alike! :D but I'd go with 10 instead of six

I'll jump in this ;)

#58 999RM

I'm all for a shot at Nürburgring...spent a few hours there yesterday, on various bikes.

I'm also in favor of sticking to real tracks...as much as I like the fantasy tracks, they're much more suited for GT driving than riding, imho.

I'm ready to get it going but it sucks they released this when riding season starts!!!! all my weekends will be spent at the track so that doesn't leave me a lot of time for the game. but yeah it will be fun anyway

I'm as keen as the next guy to spend as much of the summer riding or at races, so I'll do my best to make sure there's plenty of time for each round. ;)

Edit: On the track front, I'd be happy with your list Slow1, but I'd probably replace Tokyo with the Nurburgring still. Can't skip the best track in the game!
