Unbelievable stuff. If you didn't see that then you have to beg, borrow or steal to get a copy. Could've been such a nasty end to the race.

Aoyama did deserve the win and ran a very smart race... that said any of the top group would've deserved it.

Well done to De Angelis for getting back on track and somehow still getting 12th.

Did nobody else see the 250s? I had a look on MotoGP.com but they don't seem to offer any videos for free these days so that's no good. :(

Whether you'd have any luck I don't know, but I would say that checking out your favourite file sharing network might be an idea as that was such a good race. One of the best.

Just checked the schedule on SpeedTV, they are showing the 250 race on Tuesday at 2:00 pm ET (for those of us in the states). I'll be watching.

Stupid NASCAR pre-empts everything over here. :@

You won't regret it. ;)

Wholly cow! That was a good one. How did he stay on that bike? Never gave the 250s much of a look, but if that is any indication of what’s going on then I'm hooked.

Thanks for the tip.

125s are normally more mad than 250s as you've got loads of young guys with not too much experience but a hell of a desire to get that first win. Weirdly the roles seemed to reverse in Turkey but it still looks like it could be a great season for the 250s this year.

I still can't believe the end of that race.

Amazing stuff. That near-crash reminded me perfectly of Mamola during practice at Misano in '86, on the Rothmans Honda triple. Everyone who saw that feat back in the day must remember it, it's not easily forgotten.

As for the rest of the race, it's a bloody miracle no-one got hurt. I can appreciate the bumping around, as it hasn't been seen regularly on the track for over a decade, but I can't imagine the team bosses were at all impressed.
I'm sure the riders were being reminded that the guy who wins usually looks the most boring doing it!

Ah yes, Randy Momola. You're spot-on about that.

Unrelated but good Momola story:

At last years MotoGP race at Laguna Seca, Randy was giving rides around the track on a special built two seat Ducati MotoGP bike. If you donated something like $200 to the Riders For Health (http://www.riders.org/en/html/randy_mamola.php) foundation, you could go for the ride of your life. Let me tell you, it looked scary as heck. He was on the gas big time, complete with wheelies all the way between turns four and five. Respectable lap time too.

It was great fun to watch. I was thinking nothing could get me on the back of that motorcycle. I would have died of a heart attack for sure. Lots of people made the donation but declined the lap. The funny part is seven out of the eight people that did a lap were women. Go figure.

It must have been the beer or something.

Yeah I'm the world's worst pillion too! I usually keep my eyes shut.
$200 for a Mamola pillion ride though... I think I'd actually do that, as long as I got a good photo for posterity. However I would totally imbibe beforehand!

That Mamola near-crash has to be one of the classic bike racing clips. I've tried to find a clip of it on the net but with no luck. Amazing stuff though.

I watched the two-seater Ducati tip-toeing around a soaked Donington last year which definitely didn't look like the most fun experience. Would love to be able to do it in good weather though. I'd feel a lot happier about doing 180mph+ as pillion to a massively talented ex-GP rider than 80mph on the road as a pillion to some guys I know.

Done a bit more Googling but still can't find it. Did find this brief clip (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-57258200324958396&q=mamola) of Mamola on the 2 seater at Laguna last year and this list of what you have to do before getting on as pillion (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/motorbikes/3842621.stm) (and what you can't do - sue anyone ).

I can't seem to view that. :( Any idea if it needs a certain codec or something?

Bah, stupid codecs. Now in mpeg format (http://www.geocross.org/video/amhangon.mpg).

 I bet he was a bit more cautious on the throttle through that corner on the next lap.

(Cheers for converting it :))

Just found a clip of the almost-crash (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtcnImWCMvY) for anyone who missed the full race.
