View Full Version : getting more realistic...

had anyone else "felt" this, or realized it. maybe its just me, but it seems the harder i push, the better the bikes "feel". i know thats weird cuz its a game, but i was having a big problem with tire spin and the resulting throttle cut, then while trying to get the tz 250 (damn thats tough...two PERFECT laps...) i was really pushing damn hard, like sliding the back out, and pushing the front, but the bike kept feeling better and better the harder i pushed. then i decided to try this on some other, more streetable bikes, and the same result. it seems to me that the harder the bikes are pushed, the more realistic the handling get, and a lot of info really is relayed to you through the screen and controller. im starting to really enjoy this game, since i dont really have the money and time to actually go to the track right now.

This effect has it's limits. All the litre superbikes feel floaty. Like they go too fast for the physics model and you can see it start to break. I find the game is really the most fun between 50 and 150 mph.

It's certainly a complete joke for the sub-30mph hairpins. I know sportsbikes don't have an amazing turning circle but ffs, it's perfectly possible to turn them around without collapsing in a heap on the floor.

That last comment has Suzuka's chicane written all over it...

Hehe spot on. That and the hairpins at the end of the Amalfi circuit. You could quite happily go around them at 10-15mph in real life and yet in TT you have to hobble around at 2mph in the hop the bike won't fall over.

yeah, the suzuka chicane was a b1tch to get right, i tend to stick with the 250 strokes, and 125 race bikes, i like them the best. there should be some provision in the game about the whole falling over at 5 mph thing. also, i found that seting up a litre race bike make a big difference in how it handles. the zx 10 RM i found is really unstable at 180+ mph, but with a little tweaking it still decent, but a little unstable. also, the rider form ha a lot to do with how the bike handles.

I'm not yet familiar with the Amalfi course on a bike. From GT4 I've gleaned little knowledge of the course, as it's not one of my favorites. Had I devoted as much energy to GT4 as TT, I would know it as much if not more than Suzuka.

On a lighter note, I have reached 100% completion! Now on to Pro-Mode.
At this rate, I might submit replays around the time TT2 arrives...

I do so much better with the first half of Infineon in TT than I did with GT4, that the second half (w/ the chicane) doesn't phase me as much. Until TT, I avoided Suzuka as much as possible. I will revisit GT4 with more enthusiasm, now that I'm more familiar with the tracks all around.

What probably makes Infineon's chicane easier is you can see it coming. At Suzuka, all I had to rely on was the Ghost rider, and that was a reincarnation of a previous foul-up. Now I ride without the Ghost, and concentrate more on the shift indicator and the track.

then at suzuka your approaching at 150+ infineon is bearlly 100?

No, it's a matter of elevation. You're looking down on Infinion, and racing up at Suzuka. I've never really looked at the speedo on approach, just the recommended gear indicator. Tunnel vision I guess.
