How to take part:
Complete as many laps as you like of Trial Mountain in a Tourist Trophy mode practice session. Then save a 'best lap replay' onto a USB stick from the replay theater area and upload it to TT Replays (http://www.ttbikesim.com/community/). The fastest time wins. Make sure the time submitted is a best lap replay as that ensures the correct lap is saved with the replay, rather than the complete session.

Bikes you can use:
Any of the race modified 1000cc bikes apart from the Suzuka 8H bikes.

Deadline:
The chequered flag is out in 1 week time (Monday the 29th of May). Any entries submitted after midnight GMT will not count. To view the time in GMT logout and scroll to the bottom of the forum.

TT Replays Tag:
All replays for this round should have the tag 'championship-trialmountain'. You will be able to enter this when you upload your replay to the site.

dude, tell me about it. being smooth on this track is definitely the key!!
just for giggles, and also the fact that i dont have any 1000cc rm bikes yet, i uploaded a yzr-r6 rm best lap, @1.31.xx. id say the 1000 cc bikes may have a should be a bunch quicker, 28 arent out of the question. i tried a few quick laps in the arcade mode, but the front was pushing so bad...only got a 1.29.

my fastest clean lap so far is a 31.6, but, my fastest lap is a 30.9. i hit love tapped the wall exiting the final chicane.

My best is a 1'32.670 so far... long way to go methinks.

Still can't improve my time, how you've managed a 30.1 I have no idea. Any tips for the 'special' types like me? ;)

I feel like I'm losing a lot of time at the last corner before the chicane... the bike just doesn't want to turn in over that ridge. :( I probably need to improve everywhere though, really.

i found that the default style "lean bike" works really well here.

callaghan
25-05-2006, 01:16 AM
your a smart cookie nes. on this track, you really need to lean the bike a lot more than on some other tracks. the bike wont really want to turn much because of all the bumps and hills. leaning the bike more will help this.

try a line where you turn in really early, then when you hit the bottom of the hill, hit the brakes on full while not turning as much, then as you are letting off the brakes, turn in sharp, and get on the throttle right away. try that and see how it works.

another option you may want to try is to up the spring rate in the front a little, and increase the rebound.
i got some 1000cc rm bikes so i should be able to post up a time later tonight.

so...has anyone else noticed this, or is it just me?? seems the bikes are a little quicker in the arcade mode, time wise. cant really explain it...maybe i just need some sleep.

Dom

The bikes do seem to behave a bit differently depending on whether it's arcade mode/tt mode/license tests, which is why for the championship all times are supposed to be done in TT mode.

That said, I did have a go the other day to see if my times would improve much in arcade mode and they stayed pretty similar. But then I do suck.

callaghan
25-05-2006, 05:01 PM
dude, you dont suck...if you can pull 32s at trail mountain, you got skill.

Dom
25-05-2006, 05:10 PM
You would say that - you can do a 1'29 on an R6. By proxy you then end up as god's gift to bike racing games. :P

I think I might get a 1'31.5 at best, but we'll see.

my mistake, i realize after re-reading my post, i wasnt clear. i did not turn a 29 on the r6, (i think it was a 29.8) it was actually on the 1000cc honda, in the arcade mode. i dont think 29s are possible on the r6. there might be about 3/4 of a second left, at the most for me, maybe someone else can get a little more out of it.

Man, I am so going to get my ass kicked on this one...

After an hour session, tweaking, restarting, tweaking some more:

Rider: NoQuarter
Bike: Ducati 999R RM
Time: 18.900/41.615/1'10.951/1'32.517

es nes
25-05-2006, 10:21 PM
rider - es nes
motorcycle - ducati 999r rm
time - 1.31.624

i plan on going faster, but, ill be working when the deadline comes and goes tomorow. (iirc, gmt is +6 hours of where i am. i need to double check though)

es nes
25-05-2006, 11:33 PM
trial mountain is getting really furstraiting. like slow1 at hsr, my bikes floating along on a nice line then suddenly it goes all wrong because the bike stands itself up :(

es nes
26-05-2006, 12:43 AM
once again, hitting default on the chassis proves to be the best set up :s

rider - es nes
motorcycle - ducati 999r rm
time - 1.31.149

a clean 30.x is somewhere near. i think im going to tweak my style a bit more. move my butt back in seat a bit and hm ...

the turn leading into the 2nd tunnel, the jump off the back straight, and the chicane are proving to be the hardst areas.

my best spilt times have been 18.8xx/1.09.4xx. the bike turns in well enough, its a power struggle apex to exit and low sides on the 2 of the 3 above corners. the left just past the jump, the bike refuses to turn and hold a line. i dont think im getting max lean angle either.

callaghan
26-05-2006, 01:00 AM
ive put in about 40 or so laps, on about 4 different bikes. maybe a total of around 150 laps...too many times i would go into the corner before the last chicane and blow the lap cuz the damn thing would shoot to the right, or stand up dead straight, and not turn in. i tried to compensate with set-up and turning in real early, but to no avail. i did notice that the inside line allows a pretty good drive, and is smoother than the traditional line.

es nes
26-05-2006, 01:45 AM
well, ive style that seems to be working with me a bit more. im not sure what else to tweak though, its shame youve to go all the way back to the autosave point to be able to adjust you riding form :(

callaghan
26-05-2006, 02:03 AM
just managed to get a 1.30.5, and there is plenty of room for improvment, as i blew quite a few corners, i was pushing the front way too hard.

http://www.ttbikesim.com/community/single.php/82

yeah, i hate the fact that you cant change the details in the rider form, just the basic a, b, c, motard, in the race menu. you have to quit the time trail session, then go to garage...you know.

es nes
26-05-2006, 02:10 AM
yeah, i just managed a string of 1.30.9s. i was .4 faster at t1, but, was only .004 up at the line :(

rider - es nes
motorcycle - duacti 999r rm
time - 1.30.901

i think im going to stick with that time. i wont have time to do anymore laps tomorow and im getting burnt out on trial mountain for tonight. ill put my replay up saturday.

[edit - btw, dont laugh at my form :p ]

callaghan
26-05-2006, 02:36 AM
ok, im totally sick of this track by now...lol, i will get over it in a few days! anywho:

new time: 1.29.8x. maybe another 2-3 tenth left, but thats it for me.

no ones going to laugh at your form, you should see the way "my guy" rides. when hes not in the tuck, the bike leans and he sits conpletely upright, weird to look at.

es nes

callaghan - my guy rode similiar to that, execpt, he didnt put his knee down :P

Well I guess that's it. Can't believe that's a week already, time goes waaay to fast.

Anyway...

Round Two Results

callaghan - 1.29.8x
es nes - 1.31.149
NoQuarter - 1'32.517
Dom - 1'32.670

Congrats callaghan. 500 vCash coming your way. :) I'll update this post with replay links later. (And the main championship results thread.)

Just a little note for the next rounds - can people use the tag given in the first thread when uploading their replay? It makes it much easier to figure out who's submitted what times and where the download link is etc. Cheers.

TT Replays Tag:
All replays for this round should have the tag 'championship-trialmountain'. You will be able to enter this when you upload your replay to the site.

sorry, i had initially intended to do that, but wasnt able to get my final replay uploaded in time. i'll do that for the next one.8O

No worries. Anyway, no need to worry about uploading the replay before the time limit as long as you have posted the exact time in that round's topic. So long as it's uploaded within a few days of the round finishing I don't see the harm. (Which reminds me, I need to upload mine...)

when will the laguna thread be up? :)
