View Full Version : Rossi stays in MotoGP for 2007.
alyinsanfran 23-05-2006, 11:31 PM Not official, but on good authority.
I'm glad, he'd be a loss to the series, and maybe a potential buyer of Dorna will realise he adds value.
Opinions?
es nes 24-05-2006, 12:13 AM well, it depends. if 07 has as many different winners as 06 has so far, then, thats fine. but, if the yamaha (or whatever hes riding) is working normally then im not sure tbh.
callaghan 24-05-2006, 12:51 AM yeah, someone at yamaha right now is slitting their wrists over what happened at the french gp. i think once rossi leaves the sport he will be a legend, regardless of what he does now. he may not have the outright ability (at least i dont think so) of mick doohan, but he sure knows how to ride a bike. i remember the comment rossi made talking about the 500's, and he said after he was asked how he liked riding the 500, "uhh, ...fack... (grins)" i think that was from "Faster". and doohan would slide these things...on michelins (for those that dont know, they had the most absolute grip, but when they broke...they did so with almost no warning, and shit went wrong real quick...)
es nes 24-05-2006, 02:10 AM this is true. doohan was the best, but, it would have been interesting if he would have jumped a floating ship like rossi did and tryed a yzr500.
callaghan 24-05-2006, 02:33 AM yeah, i wonder how he (doohan) would have done if he went to another team. but then that the whole point behind racing, to win, not to see if you can win on another team, cuz if you dont, you dont have a job...
Yeah, I noticed that SuperbikePlanet posted that. Not sure how reliable their sources are but it sounds very, very likely to me. No way is Rossi going to risk leaving MotoGP a loser, and there's always the lure of being the first 800cc champion next year too.
callaghan 24-05-2006, 11:51 AM i didnt think of that. im sure rossi will want to add that to his championship list, if for no other reason than to say that he did it.
"I thank (Ferrari chairman) Luca di Montezemolo, (team principal) Jean Todt and the whole team for this wonderful opportunity. "I believe that my work in motorcycling is not yet done. It still stimulates me and I will stay in MotorGP for a while to come now," Rossi told ANSA. Ferrari has accepted Rossi's decision and in Monte Carlo, where they are preparing for Sunday's Monaco Grand Prix, Todt said "it was a pleasure to have given him the opportunity to test with Ferrari .
Not sure how reliably that news agency is, but enough for MotoGP.com to put their faith in it. I'll have an article up in a sec...
Yamaha confirm Rossi stays for '07 (http://www.motoreview.net/news/italy06/rossi-2007/) - anyone surprised?
callaghan 01-06-2006, 02:43 PM not really surprised, but i wouldnt doubt that he will leave in the next few years.
alyinsanfran 01-06-2006, 06:08 PM Good news. I think...
It'll be really interesting to see how well he adapts to the 800.
In the first year I'm sure we'll see one maker with a vastly superior machine. Might not be Yamaha.
In other news... how about that desmocedici V4 road bike? Yumm.
