Just curious what people's views are on this. He's got a 26 point lead and we're just past the half way point in the championship. If he's still in the lead after 9 races he can be after another 8, right? Or wrong? ;)

i think he can, but i dont think honda will let him. i know that sounds wierd...but since honda will be looking down the road, they will realize that the future of the sport, and their 800cc machine, will be more important than a single championship. (to honda)

I think if Valentino and Dani start to eat away further at his lead, Nicky will start to crack......

After all, he has been the recipient of some good fortune early in the season, not to say he hasn't rode exceptionally well.......

yeah, hes in that position because of a bunch of podiums, but, only 2 wins?

For development role that Hayden is playing. Every lead HRC rider has had to deal with being the developing rider. Others have dealt with it {Rossi, Doohan, etc.}, if Hayden is the true Champ that he is, he shouldn't have too many problems handling that role.

Personally, and I hope I'm wrong, though I think Hayden will crack.

Add another point being that there will be no way that HRC will let Hayden finish the title race in front of Pedrosa.........

To the guys saying Honda won't 'let' Hayden finish ahead of Pedrosa - why not? Why would they care which of their riders is at the top of the pile so long as one of them are? I could perhaps understand a certain affinity for a Japanese rider if they (Honda) had one contending the champsionship, but I can't see a reason why they would want either rider to be ahead of the other.

Yes, Dani is Honda's golden boy, but I don't think for a second that HRC are that short-sighted that they would only want him winning the championship.

i have to agree with you dom. as long as honda is on top, they shouldnt care who it is. if haydens luck continues the way its has been all season so far, he will take the title.

i didnt mean that honda wanted pedrosa to win, i meant that hayden will have a hell of a time riding a different bike each weekend. they are always switching parts out, and testing new stuff. some of this new stuff wont always make the bike better, and he may lose some points because of this.

Jury is out guys.... lets just sit back and see what happens. I have my reasons for that statement, and i'm sticking by it;)
