I love riding the gixxer600, especially around the 'ring. Heres a few pics I prepared earlier...

I'd appreciate tips on photo technique as well, particularly getting rid of the darkness that is on most of my shots once I transfer them to the PC. Do I need more EV or is it some other setting?

cheers

Those are all real great pictures man. I am looking to buy a Gixxxer 1000 in black. You can use Photshop and adjust the saturation and hue or just click on brightness.

with ev, generally you want to up the ev until the colours start to fade on screen. which is anywherer from +.3 to +1.0 depending on if your out in the sun or in the shade.

Photoshop is bloatware. Download Google's Picasa. It's a picture viewer that has fairly high end effects filters built into it. It'll be able to do what you're asking.

Yeah thats what i use Picasa quick and simple, just adjust the sliders on tuning and then use effect - saturation to add colour - turns your grey sky's to vivid blue - basically brings the picture to life, Takes about 30 sec per shot.

es nes produces some of the best shots i've seen on the forums and to get the effects he gets you probably need a more intensive package.

Best bit about Picasa it's free :D

i use gimp2. its basically a freeware photo editing program thats more power than paint shop but below photoshop.

i used to use picsa 2, but, i didnt like that you had to export pictures instead of just save as.

ok, thanx guys. I'll have to try some of the freeware programs that have been mentioned. I tried using the "auto-fix" feature of adobe photoshop, and the picture below is the result. Looks kinda artsy...if there is an artistic way to bin an R1 that is :/

the quickst, easyst way to improve your pictures is to adjust the brightness/contast. then once you feel like trying more advanced features, theres layers, levels, and colour balance :D

Hi es nes, i've got gimp as well but just hav'nt got a clue where to start :(

I've had a look @ it a couple of times but it looks so confusing :eh:

Have you got any basic tips or do you know of any type of manual or guide :D

here you go, the basics -
open image
layers > colours > brightness-contrast > then adjust brightness first til the colours are slightly faded/washed out and then up the contrast. then make tweak until satisfed.

:)

im not very good at this, but, if youd like shoot me a pm and ill give you some more hints/suggestions.

Thanks es nes ;)

I'll have a play with it later - as normal i suppose it just takes time and a bit of experimenting to find out whats possible with Gimp :D

I think though i'll use picassa for the basic touches and play around with Gimp  ( should Re phrase that i suppose ) For the effects and arty shots :D

if you want something a little more simple, try irfan view. its free as well. the only down side is that there are not as many features, and as a result, you cannot manipulate the pictures quite as much as with some of the more complicated stuff.

irfanview download site (http://www.irfanview.com/)

i use the easyshare software that came with my digicam simply for brightening my pics, if needed

imo any effect other that that isn't required :D

each to their own of course though. if arty is your party, then why not? :D
