View Full Version : Can Hayden hold on????

Or will he place his hands around his neck and squeeze..........?

I reckon he's a goner, it will be an acheivement if he can hold on and take the title.

Agreed, I just don't think he can hold off Rossi for another 3 races. In fact, tbh, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Melandri and maybe even Capirossi move past him for 2nd and 3rd.

If he is to stand a chance he will have to find some serious pace. Hopefully Honda are no longer insisting on putting untested development bits on his bike, as he needs all the help he can get.

well,he only has two races to go, and i think he can hold them off. rossi would have to finish first on both remaining races, and hayden would have to be third or worse. he has been on the podium a lot this year, and i think he will continue to do so, plus capirossi and melandri, as stated above, may also be up there at the top...so that may factor in too, say if capirossi beats rossi in one of the races...

i think he will do it.

Oops I was thinking there were 3 races left. I still think Hayden has his work cut out in a big way.

Not a cat in hell's chance. Mentally, he's already been broken by Rossi. If he is to pull off the unlikely and win this year, he has to beat Rossi in the final races, and I can't see that happening. And don't rule out Capirex yet either.

callaghan
26-09-2006, 08:23 PM
umm...broken by rossi?? i disagree. and even if rossi does win both races, hayden has to finish third or worse. plus, capirossi has proven to be much faster than rossi...

welcome to the boards! are you a rossi fan?

if you've ever read Rossi's book the Hayden Clutch thing is a prime example of the problem with the Honda head honcho's

they're wrong but they refuse to go backwards. instead they'll let Hayden struggle to keep rossi at bay.

for what it's worth - i rekon hayden will hang on (just) but i'd much rather he didn't. ;)

is that a 'NO' es-nes ?

CELTIC

I think Honda are imploding big style :D

The main factors are that Rossi is good on all remaining tracks

Ducati now have a very fast and sorted bike

and the clincher is that Melandri and Pedroser have a faster bike than Hayden

The bike Hayden is running at the moment seems to put him somewhere on par with Gibernau, Stoner, Nakano, Roberts, Elias, Edwards and Vermeulen

So i think he could end up anywhere in the bottom half of the top 10 for each of the remaining races if Honda don't change tack on trying out new parts.

It's all good for us though - should be the best finish in years 8O

if you've ever read Rossi's book the Hayden Clutch thing is a prime example of the problem with the Honda head honcho's

and the cam chain tensioners on their street bikes is another example...they always fail early in their life, but for twenty years, they refuse to admit they have a problem. how long has hayden been complaining about his clutch being shit? did you see his start at Motegi? and Phillip Island...etc.

i wish that honda would just let him win the crown.

For all you non believers out there, I've broken it down for you below. Going into the last race of the season Hayden's on top with 236pts with Rossi trailing by 12pts at 224:

if Rossi gets: Hayden needs atleast:
1st(25pt) 249pt
2nd(20pt) 244pt
3rd(16pt) 240pt 252pt
4th(13pt) 237pt
5th(11pt)
6th(10pt)
7th(9pt) 245pt
8th(8pt)
9th(7pt)
10th(6pt)
11th(5pt) 241pt
12th(4pt)
13th(3pt)
14th(2pt) 238pt
15th(1pt)

Looking at these numbers, it's a very real possibilty that Nicky's going to bring it home:D

Damm it, this thing screwed up my chart. Alright, if Rossi gets 1st Hayden needs 3rd, Rossi 2nd Hayden 7th, Rossi 3rd Hayden 11th, Rossi 4th Hayden
14th.

I've added (code) tags so that it shows up okay Usul, hope you don't mind me editing your post like that.

You're right, it does make it look quite possible. My concern is that I really wouldn't be that surprised to see Nicky get 7th in both races.

Thanks callaghan. Does it show? I wrote that soon after Mr Hayden did so badly in Motegi. I am biased, no doubt about it. Whatever happens, we're set up for the greatest finish to the championship for years. Let's hope it goes to the wire and may the best rider win.

He certainly can, and I expect him to be a lot better back now in Europe.

Would be awesome to see him and Rossi go into the race at Valencia more or less even so it's a 30 lap dash for the title.

If Rossi wins the next race and Hayden finshes fourth there level :D going into the last race 8O

Usal you do realise that there are 2 races left Estoril 15/10/06 and Valencia 29/10/06 British Dates Of Course

Damn Celtic your right, I can't believe I misread that. Crap, that screws my math all up. Alright, we'll have to see how this next race goes then I can refigure the numbers for the last race (man, i feel like an idiot). On a side note, it is good to see that the polls for Nicky have gone up.

Slightly drunken post but for me, may the best man win.

Have liked Rossi since I first saw him on a 125 and Hayden when he was in AMA and my mum used to moan at me for watching it (and now she's a Hayden fan), and though my heart my lie moreso with Rossi (who I've been lucky enough to meet and we've even got a signed pic from him of our Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rossi), I think it'd be for the good for the championship to see a new winner.

.. then hopefully next year Pedrosa will stay strong at the end and Melandri and Capirossi have as good seasons as this (minus Catalunya) then it really will be a fight for the title.

callaghan

slightly intoxicated post for we as well...

yeah, next year is shaping up to be a real good one. rossi, i think, will have his work cut out for him. towards the end of this season, were really seeing a number of riders at the front, consistantly. and it looks as if the bikes are going to be really competitive, but i wonder, with the new 800's, is anyone going to have a big power advantage?

Dom

Yes, and I'll give you a clue who: Think small. :?

callaghan
01-10-2006, 12:05 AM
haha, i meant power as in the motor...like the ducati has now. i know pedrosa will ultimately have the power/weight ratio in his favor, but wouldnt it be fun to watch him pull a small lead off the corner, only to be run down and passed on the straight.

baldylocks
01-10-2006, 08:10 PM
there's a load of smaler guys in the paddock who are going to be right at home on the 800's

pedrosa
stoner
ellias

etc etc

i don't think it will all go dani's way

I've been hearing rumors that Gary McCoy might be coming back to motogp, and if that's true then he will be right up there with Dani in the power to weight ratio catogory (depending on which bike he throws a leg over)

I was wondering when somebody was going to make a pneumatic valve motorcycle engine, seems right that a formula 1 engine designer would be the first.

well, actually, aprillia did it with their "cube" but that bike was deemed too unrideable, though i heard it made awesome horsepower...

It made awesome horespower and an awesome noise, like it was literally shredding the tarmac. Pity the power was pretty much on or off and nothing between. Ah Aprillia, come back soon.
