View Full Version : Valencia - The Outcome........

Folks, the more i think about the upcoming race the more apprehensive i get. I really do beleive that something extraordinary is going to happen next sunday, and if my premonition comes true it won't be for the betterment of the sport.

If Nicky Hayden wins this championship, it won't be by battling Valentino from the front of the field, someone is going to spoil the party, there will be contact and Valentino will DNF.

My question is, if Vale does indeed fall, who will be involved in the incident????

It really can only be the frontrunners who will find themselves in that position......... so who?

P.S.... i should mention that even though i despise Hayden, if he can beat Rossi, and there are no shenanigans behind and another rider outduels Vale into 3rd which mean Nicky takes the title....... then i begrudgingly accept his title.

I really do want Valentino to take this championship, thus becoming the ONLY rider to ever hold a World MotoGP Title....... the history of that would be fantastic.

I've cast my vote.

Elias for mine is a prime candidate.......... hyper after the miracle of the previous round, we all saw the "at the limit" riding style and suicide passing manouvres....... add to that it was Elias who started the rot of this year in Round 1 by taking Vale out.

to be honest, i think they are all professionals, and no one will take rossi out on purpose. that would be horrible for the sport. now i would like to think that everyone from honda, factory and satellite teams alike, will be giving hayden the best chance he can get. but again, like hayden said, there were no team orders in the last race, and i dont honda will suddenly say "ok, stoner, melandri, pedrosa, etc...all you's need to block rossi, and let hayden take the win." i think it will be a race as normal, just that less will be fighting for the top spot, and more will be riding "defensively"...if you catch my drift. if elias rides like he did at estoril, than i expect to see him at the front of the pack. hayden has beaten rossi here before, and hopefully he will take that to the track. i dont think that because of pedrosa's screw up, that the rest of the honda squad will join forces and become a honda vs.rossi affair.

My votes a 'nobody', simply because I don't think any of the riders would purposefully take each other out. Hell even if someone liked the idea I expect he'd be put off by the fact he could so himself a hell of a lot of damage in the first place.

However... team-mates looking out for one another? Definitely. Well, some yellow ones and red & black ones, anyway. ;) If Dani or Colin can get in Vale/Nicky's way and slow them down then I'm sure they will. Dani in particular has some serious making up to do and imo he needs to do what he can to make things up with Nicky and the rest of the team.

Last race of the season is always going to be a little bit unusual in that all of the riders who maybe haven't been on the podium this year will be thinking "the championship doesn't matter and I've got a few months to heal I screw up... I'm going for it".

I don't think another Elias win is especially likely as to be honest I think the win could be anyone's. Rossi and Nicky are obviously going to be a massive factor in the race. If one of them is down the order then the other isn't going to be stupid enough to risk everything for a 2nd instead of a 3rd, for instance.

If I had to put money on who would take the race I'd say either Rossi or Melandri. I'm not sure Nicky has it in him to get a win, but good luck to the guy.

Edit: And I still think Elias put in a stunning ride last weekend and that all his passes were fair. ;) He deserved the win more than anyone.

yeah, i agree with you dom, i dont think hayden will win the race, but if dani can help him out, he will, and that might be the help hayden needs. keep in mind, if hayden finishes first, rossi has to finish 2 places back. and if hayden doesnt finish first, basically, rossi will have to dnf (or some other major event) for him not to win the title.

I hope you're all correct in your thoughts guys........... MotoGP is THE most exciting category of motorsport on the planet for mine, and to see a race and championship ruined by a moment of madness or a manufacturer conspiracy would be a shame.

The last thing we need is for MotoGP to end up like the circus that is F1.

manufacturer conspiracy??? like what? if like teams help each other out to achieve a common goal (winning the championship and manufacturers title?) that is not a conspiracy, but teamwork. you have to realize in the end, there are teams involved, and honda has a rather large one. it just so happens that their satellite teams are also very competitive, unlike yamaha and ducati. they also have riders that are capable of wining races...i understand rossi is by far your favorite rider, but dont let that blind you.

the moment of madness i agree would be a shame. a championship should be won fairly, and if rossi was taken out, i dont think hayden would like to win like that.

i understand your point callaghan, but my thoughts of a manufacturer conspiracy is leaning more towards the idea of a honda rider "taking one for the team"....... so to speak.

Think about it. Valentino leaves Honda for Yamaha, Honda reps giggle uncontrollably thinking that it's all academic to collect the next 124345 championships...... only it doesn't go to plan. Honda's dislike for Rossi must be at an alltime high, and i wouldn't put it past the powers that be to "create" a situation to prevent him humiliating them further.

My 2c..........

1-This is going to be a sweet ass race.....

2-Rossi will be riding his best.

3-Hayden will be riding his best.

4-Pedrosa will still be short and hated for many years to come.

The less Rossi learns from Schuey the better. We don’t need pompous asses in MotoGP. :shifty:

Val deserves the championship and I think he will take it, but I’m still hopeful the Kentucky Chicken, er, Kid has enough fight left in him to make a race of it without someone taking someone else out. This is going to be a fun race.
