Ya, I am working there as a flag marshall this weekend and I've got a few day one photos for you all. I get access to the pits (only on the way out to my flag point in the morning) so I'll be able to get some good photos as the next few days pass. And I'm working on turn 1 this year. It's been only one day so far and already my arm is gonna hurt from too much flag waving. It's quite hectic at this part of the track...

haha, there is a tank going full tilt boogie...thats too funny. i like the girls. they look...mmmmmm. anywho. just out of curiousity, do you know what kind of bike that is in those pics?

I got no idea. I think they're Suzuki GSX-R600's, but they are so hacked up and modified to hell that it's hard to tell.

As for that bike, I've gotta say I have no idea.

I just got back with more pics today - I'll upload tham soon. As for the stunt bikes, you'll notice there are two of them, one guy has got a mohawk on his lid. The non-mohawked bike is a Honda CBR900RR, but I still haven't had the chance to check out the other bike. As you could probably guess, they both sound brilliant :D

Oh yeah, the 8-wheeler tanks were out again doing demos this morning and the lead tank decided it would be cool to do a handbrake slide on the main straight. The fucker misgudged it and ended up nosing into one of the concrete barriers, cracking one panel in the process... They weigh a couple of million tonnes so breaking stuff in one of those things isn't hard.

This is a pile of left-hand V8 Supercar mirrors. The drivers cut it a little fine on the tyre barrier as they exit turn 1 and this is the result, taken at about lunchtime. By the end of the last qualifying session we had a total of nine. Most of the debris is this plastic, but the mirrors themselves also smash into smithereens and spray tiny, sharp pieces of glass across the racetrack. It could be quite dangerous and I wonder why the organisers don't do anything about it.

My first thought when I saw those aussie racing cars was that the image had been compressed. Odd looking things, but good fun to race/watch I'll bet. Being nice and thin should mean extra overtaking opportunities, which must come in handy on a fairly thin circuit like that.

Yeah, they get four wide in some places all the time and five wide on a good corner...!

Anyway, sorry for the delays in getting days 3 & 4 up. I'll probably get to them tonight (if I haven't collapsed from the exhaustion of the weekend).
