Jesus the boys are on it early!!!!!

Have a look at how close the times are for the top3, and less than 1/2 a sec back to 10th.

Qualifying is gonna be balls out!

1. Valentino Rossi - 1.33.310
2. Casey Stoner - 1.33.316 +0.006
3. Nicky Hayden - 1.33.317 +0.007
4. Loris Capirossi - 1.33.474 +0.164
5. Chris Vermuelen - 1.33.513 +0.203
6. Colin Edwards - 1.33.545 +0.235
7. Dani Pedrosa - 1.33.643 +0.333

9. Randy De Puniet - 1.33.774 +0.464
10. Marco Melandri - 1.33.791 +0.481

P.S. - Great Effort by Bayliss also.......... early days i guess.

**Edit**

FP2 Results.......... even more incredible, but not for the regulars.

De Puniet first of all goes under capirossi's benchmark by over half a second, then capirossi takes it back by a hundreth or so............ then at the death Chris Vermuelen pops up in 3rd also into the 1.32's.....

Another amazing session, although the top 2 are a ways ahead of the remainder, comparitively speaking.........

FP2 -

1. Loris Capirossi - 1.32.220
2. Randy De Puniet - 1.32.408 +0.188
3. Chris Vermuelen - 1.32.786 +0.566
4. Nicky Hayden - 1.33.019 +0.799
5. Casey Stoner - 1.33.080 +0.860

Capirossi goes fastest in FP2 from de Puniet and Vermeulen. Here's hoping there's a Ducati in the mix on Sunday.

if motogp.com screws up the feed again, i really will be ready with arms to kill...

i wonder if rossi and hayden are working on race setup, and not so much qualifying pace? i would think the race pace matters more at this point.

Rossi may only have been 7th in FP2 but was running consistent mid 33's for half a race distance before people brought out the qualifiers.

And thanks for the PM Callaghan, I'll give those settings a good run once I get the chance early next week :)

Interesting.......... http://www.crash.net/news_view~t~Advantage-Hayden--but-Rossi--not-worried--~cid~6~id~139551.htm

Advantage Hayden, but Rossi 'not worried'.

Nicky Hayden boosted his hopes of inflicting a shock title defeat on Valentino Rossi in Sunday's Valencian showdown, by being the fastest rider on race tyres during Friday practice.

Rossi, who holds an eight-point championship lead over Hayden, made the perfect start by setting the first free practice pace, albeit by just 0.006secs from Casey Stoner with Hayden a mere 0.001secs further behind, but the reigning five-times champion then slipped to seventh overall as other riders raised their pace in the second afternoon session - including Hayden, who set the fourth fastest time.

Of the six riders ahead of Rossi, the top three - comprising of Bridgestone riders Loris Capirossi, Randy de Puniet and Chris Vermeulen - all used qualifying tyres to set their best laps, something the Michelin riders didn't do. In terms of pure race pace, Hayden was fastest of all on Friday with his 1min 33.019secs lap, while Capirossi was second (+0.053secs), Stoner third (+0.061secs), Dani Pedrosa fourth (+0.235secs) and Rossi fifth (+0.255secs) - but the Kentuckian didn't want to dwell on such analysis:

"It wasn't a bad start but I want to be fastest outright here in every session and every lap so I'm not totally satisfied with the day. I don't want get into any of that 'fastest Michelin' or 'fastest race tyre' stuff and I'd have liked to have got into the 1m 32s today on race tyres," stated Nicky. "There are a few guys in front of us going quick so I definitely need to find some time.

I don't figure Rossi would be worried, despite going from first to seventh his split between both runs is only .036. Seems like he's just cruising while the rest of the pack is riding their wheels off before the race even starts.

So Rossi on pole and he's had the better race pace all through practice...
