http://xs208.xs.to/xs208/06432/TTSS.jpg
Thanks, CELTIC!

How to take part:
Complete as many races as youd like of Suzuka West in a Tourist Trophy Street (750cc or under). Then save your fastest race replay onto a USB stick from the replay theater area and upload it to TT Replays (http://www.ttbikesim.com/community/). The fastest time wins.

Qualifing - Complete as many laps as youd like of Suzuka West in a Tourist Trophy Street > practice > free run. Then save your fastest race replay onto a USB stick from the replay theater area and upload it to TT Replays (http://www.ttbikesim.com/community/). The fastest time wins pole position and 1 bonus point. but, beware, unlike the full race where normal "Race moments" will be allowed, qualifing laps must be 100% clean

Bike you can use:
Moriwaki CBR600RR Moriwaki

Deadline:
The chequered flag is out in 1 week time (Saturday the 4th of November). Any entries submitted after midnight CST will not count.

race offical note: itll be interesting to see the differnce between Callaghans real knowledge of set up and my "shut up and ride it and make small tweaks as you go" set up/riding style.

Am I'm reading the rules correctly... Qualifying is a full clean race, rather than TT Mode/Practice/Free Run?

callaghan
31-10-2006, 03:36 AM
no, the qualifying is done in practice mode, at free run, or what ever they call it. then the race is in the 750 cc and under category, at suzuka west. you will be able to submit times for both, a "qualifying" run, and the race.

it does say "races" though...

DJ Baker
31-10-2006, 03:52 AM
Thanks. That's what I tought, but that's not how it reads.

One other point to clarify... What was the final decision: Spec Set-Up & Rider Form, or is Rider Form tweakable?

callaghan
31-10-2006, 03:54 AM
whats posted is whats to be used. basically, what we're trying to do is get everyone on equal footing, so to speak, so that all you have to do is ride (how great would that be in RL?) the basis for the form and set up is to at least give a little better handling bike than the generic every bike in the game set up. the ones i set up were not balls to the wall, the fastest possible race set up, but a good, balanced bike, that is forgiving, (or at least i tried for that...)

thanks guys, i thought i edited that ... guess i had a blonde moment :?

DJ Baker
31-10-2006, 06:07 AM
Several options were being tossed around before, so thanks for clarifying that.

My preliminary conclusion is about what I expected... My Set-Up skills pretty much suck! I was instantly quicker using the spec Set-Up & Rider Form, than I had been after several runs with my own settings while practicing before the specs were posted. I was able to go even faster using the spec Set-Up & my Rider Form though. Figures! It will still be more interesting this way though. Good Luck & Good Racing!

Ach, trying to outbrake the computer and keep a decent enough line into turn 2 is near impossible.

And yeah I know they've tried to make tyre wear realistic in terms of a full race distance, but my rear dark orange after 2 laps?!

Anyway after about half an hour's mucking about, my best time in 'free practice' so far is 1:25.786, and one clean 3 lapper of 4:21.109.

This could very well come down to who can put in the fastest final lap with completely worn rubber.

callaghan
31-10-2006, 01:03 PM
yeah, i noticed that my best last lap was a 1.25.4xx, about a second off my second lap. the tyres get worn real quick. too quick if you ask me. i dont race with any info on my screen (track, tires, etc...) but you can feel when the front and rear start to get worn.

es nes
31-10-2006, 07:51 PM
about the tyres, i know which is why i choose perforance tyres

DJ Baker: im happy you like the set up. its rather basic though compaired to callaghans skills :)

diatribe: in my testing, i was able to pass the ai through turn 1 cleanly :D

fwiw - i was managing 1'27(i think) first lap, 1'25 second lap and 1'27-28s(iirc) thrid laps.

CELTIC
31-10-2006, 11:01 PM
Just to let you know es the Tyres on the Pal version are called "Production" with the other option of "street" just another quirk within the regions I guess :D

Anyway after half an hour hot lappin got down to 1:24:709 with a mid split of 0:38:049 ;)

First Feeler Race Gave a 4:20:429 Laps of 27:871 - 25:697 - 26:861 :D

es nes
01-11-2006, 01:40 AM
so, what do you guys think of the form and set up?

DJ Baker
01-11-2006, 03:10 AM
I like the Set-Up, but I'm still quicker anytime I go back to my form. I do like the idea overall, even though it's only confirming that I'm not very good. I've only been able to get just under 4'30 so far, & I doubt I'll be able to improve on that very much. Probably need to take a couple of days off after this little incident anyway.

well, at least childern wont be a problem anymore!

callaghan
01-11-2006, 04:24 AM
with a crappy first lap, i turned a 4.18.494. ill load up a replay after the round i guess, no sense in uploading 45 different replay of the same race.

edit: ive run a few 4.16's, including a 16 dead, but there is more in it, probably about a second a lap. so far i have a fast race lap of 1.23.667.

es nes
01-11-2006, 12:53 PM
hows everyone doing with qualifing?

callaghan
01-11-2006, 06:05 PM
so far, 1.23.984

after checking the replay, i had a minor incident where on the second corner, i slighly clipped the grass. and now i cant seem to get my pace back. making small mistakes here and there.

This may be my final time as the internet in my house has committed suicide. Again.

1:27.795
1:26.165
1:27.145
4:21.105

.. with a qualifying time of 1:25.786. The set up and rider form though very different from what I'm used to was well balanced and fair, and will hopefully lead to a close finish to the race. Good job Es Nes on sorting all of that out :)

I'm not even trying for the pole, fuck that. You guys are insane.

I've put in a 4:25 race time in, but I've got more coming. Low 20's defenitally possible for me, but it looks like the top three is gonna be in the teen's. Damn. :eh:

callaghan
04-11-2006, 02:56 AM
i dont know man. the best ive managed so far is a couple of low 23's. when you push real hard, the bike becomes a little...blunt?? sorry, sorry...

anywho. it just feels a little rounded on the edges...kinda hard to describe, and i thinks its the bike, not the settings. thats the character its got. (remember the F1?)

edit: i misread the previous post...i thought you said you put in a 1.25, and that you thought low 20's were a possible qualifying time. im sure you can get into the 20's.

Matt W.
04-11-2006, 03:12 AM
My problem is the 1st lap is like a 1:30, then I can put in 27's.

If I can do a better first lap, then maybe put in a nice second lap flyer, then top it off with a 27, I'll be closer to the ballpark.

Honeslty, the bike is much better than what I set it up as. It tends to push out of slow speed corners though, maybe it's just my riding style...but NES did do a good job.

What's that you're riding in your avatar, & where?

750F-RM
04-11-2006, 03:32 PM
ello all :) i've not spent much time on this, couple of reasons. tried it early on, and whilst having a spec set up
seems ok, i can't get my head round a spec form so far from my own

just doesn't seem like me riding, so i sort of lost interest. i was open to the idea and gave it a go, but it doesn't
work for me. from a purely selfish viewpoint, i hope that spec forms die a quick and painless death

also, i've been enjoying the visceral delights of MotoGP4 :D

anyways, here's my entry

qualifying - 1:25.748

1 - 1:28.941
2 - 1:25.863
3 - 1:26.974

race - 4:21.778

here's hoping the next series is a full on free form, free set up naked rm thing 8O

DJ, it's my R1 racebike.

The pic is from Jennings going in turn 12, I think.

DJ Baker
04-11-2006, 04:38 PM
Sweet! I was supposed to be riding my new toy at Jennings today & tomorrow, but my buddy couldn't go. Now I'll have to wait until I get out to Phoenix this Winter for work. Unless I hit the New Years Eve/Day event at Jennings again. I did that last year since I was spending the holidays with my parents in FL before heading out to Phoenix. What kind of times do you turn there by the way?

DJ Baker
04-11-2006, 04:44 PM
750F-RM,

I'm with you on the Spec Rider Form thing. I was hoping for a Spec Set-Up & a Suggested Rider Form that we could tweak. Of course, being a mere mortal, I'm nowhere near as fast as you or the other Podium Dwellers, even using my Form. So far it's been all I can do just to get under 4'30. I'll try to get to 4'25 before I throw in the towel.

I'm with you on the GT4 thing too. During the Off-Season I managed to get to 25% Complete so I could run the Endurance Events. So far I've won the Grand Valley 300, Laguna 200, Super Speedway 150mi, Nurburgring 4hr & 24hr. Might give the Suzuka 1000km a try next. I hope they put Endurance Events in a future version of TT.

What kind of times do you turn there by the way?

The last time I was there, was the first time with the R1. Just shaking it down, on some pretty shitty tires. Ran 1:27's, maybe couple of 26's.

Next time I expect to be well below 25's. Time will tell...

You're killing me at Suzuka West, but I've got you covered at Jennings: 1'24.69 on my GSXR750 race bike. ;) Not sure what the KTM/NSR will do, but I can hardly wait to try.

Actually, never ridden with STT. I will be riding with STT next year though.

I was a NESBA member for a little while, but their complete lack of customer service/skills turned me off big time. They pretty much told me to fuck myself and go ride with STT. So I will. And I'm bringing couple of friend with me too...

Nice form.

DJ Baker
04-11-2006, 07:48 PM
Prolly see you at the track sometime then. I do most of the Midwest events & usually try to make it to Barber & Jennings at the end of the season, but that didn't work out this year. I'm sure you'll like riding with STT, & if you don't be sure to let us know why. Thanks again NESBA! ;)

And not to be a total Thread Ho...

we usually allow ample time after the races are completed to upload your replay(s). just make sure you post your exact time, down to the thounsandth, also.

im sticking with my 4.18. i cant seem to push it any harder. if i do, it just starts losing time. there is more time in it, but its getting exponentionally more difficult to get that performance out of it.

Cool.

I am happy with my time. You guys have allot more play time than I do on this game. I really had to step it up, and pull something out of my ass. Hopefully the replay will pass. I don't think I had any "moments", but haven't checked yet.

I think I might have clipped a curb a little tight one time, but in my book that's game. Ain't it? :shifty:

callaghan

curbs are game, grass, up to a point (think, running out or curbing, while the bike is pretty much upright.)
