You may need a new magnet. If not, then you probably need to clean the lense.

I think the laser on my PS2's just about had it, but I have found that using a lens cleaner (eg this sorta thing (http://www.maplin.co.uk/Free_UK_Delivery/CD_Laser_Lens_Cleaner_3123/CD_Laser_Lens_Cleaner_3123.htm)) has helped quite a bit.

mine is starting (or has been for a little while now) to act up, where i had to move it from sitting tall to laying flat. you know, from ll to =...had to rearrange my electronics to make it fit. it wont read a disc if its not laying flat.

mine works better standing up, but, i didnt get the destruction tonight because i couldnt find my weapons of mass destruction :(

well, i took a q-tip to her eye and shes reading fine again. i didnt need to adjust the laser thankfully, but, im hesitant to screw it back together just quite yet :|
