how do you compress 24 hours of racing into 30 or 60 minute shows? (which usually means 20 or 45 minutes of actually time)

Yeah, it's less than perfect, but better than nothing.

The Moto-ST racing looks pretty interesting. All twins! They're supposed to have a full season planned for next year. I'll have to check that out.

Wasn't all that hot anyway. I caught a bit of it, and all they showed were a bunch of short race clips followed by extended interviews with the riders. In all it was a rather uninteresting series of highlights. The bikes looked awesome though, including one with a '0' plate number and another with '666'.

ive never understood why theres always more interview footage than race footage, specially for endurance races. we watch racing for the track time, not the interviews ...

I've watched the odd program from the Bol d'Or and Le Mans and it's pretty difficult to find the racing interesting. I'm sure it's great if you're actually there but I just don't think endurance racing carries over to TV all that well.

The bikes do always look great though, and there's a few minutes worth of novelty in watching night racing until the reality hits that nothing's really happening.

but, would you rather watch awesome bikes flying around a track at high speeds or "blah blah blah"?

Oh definitely the former. :P Fortunately when they're on Eurosport in the UK they tend to get quite a few hours of coverage over the course of the race and decent commentary. ;)

when i was living in Orlando, FL, i attended the 24hr LeMans race, and was there for quite a few hours (maybe 10-12 or so.) it was fun at night, but it started to get a bit chilly, and the noise was tiresome after a while. you had to exit the stadium to talk to anyone without screaming at the top of your lungs. it was really cool though, watching the flames shoot out the back/sides of the cars.

Calla,

You still on medication, 'cus I'm confused? ;) What does living in Orlando have to do with LeMans? Did you fly to LeMans France from Orlando, or are you talking about the 24hrs of Daytona & thinking it was the American LeMans Series? I think it's actually the Grand American series that runs the 24hrs of Daytona, & the American LeMans Series run the 12hrs of Sebring. My family has gone to the Sebring race for years. Not much of a track, but a great party. My Dad & I went to the 24hrs of Daytona several years ago when a buddy of mine was the Racing Director for a team running a Corvette. It was fun, but man did it get cold at night. Got below 40F, & we were sleeping in the car! Slept just inside the turn where they get back onto the oval off the infield. Talk about loud! Amazing how you can get used to it & manage to get some sleep though. I'd like to go to the 24hr of LeMans sportscar race some year, & I'm going to try to catch the 24hr sportscar &/or motorcycle races at the Nurburgring when I have to go there for work a few times next Spring/Summer/Fall.

sorry, yes i am still on some meds...and apparently they are some good ones too. it was the daytona 24hr, i was watching some old LeMans footage while typing that post up, so i got myself confused a little i guess. it was the race where there were ferraris and corvettes duking it out, and porches and bmw's fighting for positions as well. and even a few "slow" cars, i believe there was a mitsu eclipse, a toyota tercel, and some other off brands there too.
