As Immigrant said, I was going to suggest another memory card.
While I have read some games themselves have difficulty with something like Datel's Max Memory cards, I bought a 64MB version and I just use it as a swap file. The PS2 browser seems to have no trouble recognizing it, so I copy to and from my Sony card there, using the "official" card for assured game compatibility.
If you have the cash floating around it's a good investment, and is easier than FTP. Every couple of months or so I will also backup the Max card just to be safe.
Also if you happen to own an Action Replay MAX, your purchase came with some webspace for storing game saves. You can also share these saves with others or keep them to yourself, whatever your preference for that particular save.
