Looks like the third outing to Laguna may provide the closest race yet. Who's your money on?

He's taken Elias's place at Gresini Honda for the weekend. Have always liked Duhamel, have good memories of mixing it up with WSB regulars at Laguna.

yeah, my first motorcycle race i saw was mid 90s (iirc) 600 super sport race at laguna seca with those sexy camel cbr600f3s. miguel and his team mate pulled away and were going at it until the end

Considering he'd never even seen the bike before, let alone ridden it, it could have been worse (whilst also competing in 2 Superbike races over the weekend, his main priority). He's a seasoned, successful veteran that not only has respect from his US peers but the motorcycling world as a whole: hence the call up. Just because you're some blinkered Aussie who has no clue about motorcycling outside of MotoGP, it doesn't make him any less of a rider.

For me that's game, set and match as far as the title's concerned, bar a miracle. Can't see Stoner slipping up and just about all of the remaining tracks are very Ducati and/or Bridgestone friendly.

whoa nelly......... just a bit of jest diatribe... get off the soapbox.

I know of Duhamels records, but if we look at it without the rose glasses on, the call up was nothing more than thank you for his efforts over the last 17 years or so of beating up lesser lights in the AMA. As it is..... those records were only temporary until Mat Mladin took all of them ;) . 32 wins at Superbike level over 17 years or so is ordinary, when considering Nicky Hayden won 17 in less than 2 years.

Good on him for getting the wildcard..... but i just laugh when all the sentiment and tears get bought into it. He just blends in with all the other joe averages who haven't had either the success, talent or coin to get there. There has been plenty of better riders around the world than Duhamel who also haven't had the opportunity to ride at the highest level.

On the subject of wildcards, as much as I hope Hofmann makes a quick recovery, I would like to see Chaz get another ride in MotoGP. It wouldn't have been possible for the guy to have been dropped in any deeper, but he still put in a decent performance. I was amazed to hear that his technical problem was that half the teeth had come off his rear sprocket.

The wonders of Wikipedia eh?

And Es asked a simple, innocent question and you jumped on it. Then again after the race. And that was without any said "sentiment and tears" from us. No one said he is/was a world beater and deserved this ride more than anyone else, no one said this is justice and reward for his long career, and nobody expected him to be running in the top 10. But as usual you have to start making smarmy remarks.

And it's a shame Chaz lost his 250 ride, sad to see a decent young Brit being forced over to America 'cos the big(ish) European sponsors aren't interested. He had some great rides in the Aprilia Germany team, and in comparison crap like Joan Olive gets continuously decent rides just because he's Spanish.

I'm old enough and ugly enough to have been following AMA and GP Racing for enough years to know a few details, but no-one is an encylopedia.... wiki is great.

Of course DuHamel should go well at Laguna.... he's ridden there many times a year for the last 17 FFS!!!! As it was, he parked the bike for fear of getting lapped by Stoner and crew....... because he apparently "wasn't feeling it". And that is on good authority. What a stiff.

Anyways, the numbers don't lie ....... you can't sugarcoat mediocrity. I don't see Es getting his knickers in knot now do i?

Calm down mate....... it's just the internets:roll:

I thought Chaz went ok also...... he was really dropped in it wasn't he?

.. Turns out now that Melandri fractured his ankle. And still got on the podium. God knows how he did that.

Was gonna post a thread in the main forum regarding Toseland, as BBC reckon he's signed for the "factory" Yamaha team (but BBC are idiots when it comes to motorcycling), though MCN now reckon it's Tech 3. Apparently an official announcement later today.
