So far Stoner's looking fast; whodda thunk it? Meanwhile, Yamaha have finally realised that Ducati are onto something with that huge fairing so they've drawn round it with tracing paper and made their own copy. Will #46 go any faster as a result?
mthielen 17-08-2007, 05:45 PM Brno always has been known as a Duke circuit so i think Stoner will win this one
mthielen 17-08-2007, 08:28 PM you never know, maybe a small bet on Loris
gonna see how quali goes tomorrow
Stoner fastest in free practice. It's definitely his race to lose.

and indeed he didn't............ edges closer to being a true dominant World Champion...
Diatribe 20-08-2007, 01:35 AM Well.. I joked about travelling 800 miles to see Stoner run away with it, but all's good. The 125's were the highlight of the weekend with loads of Hungarians about plus Czechs obviously...
Isn't a bad track for viewing (cheap!) but you're always a long way back. The campsite was fun, competitons to see who had the loudest chassis-less engine, and when the Italians got bored with that they moved onto fireworks and home made bombs (like at their football matches). I'll post up a few pics when home, at the moment I'm drunk in a hostel in Prague and am flying home tomorrow night. Beats the crap out of Donington.
Sounds good! I have to say, the race was probably on a par with back in 2004 when Rossi was completely dominating. Stoner's riding impeccably, it's great to see the Ducatis going so well and for Bridgestone to be so competitive.. but all I really want to see is close racing.
If I'm honest, I'm already looking forward to 2008. :?
mthielen 20-08-2007, 03:23 PM does anyone have some news about the dude that crashed in the 250 warm up??
Diatribe 20-08-2007, 11:05 PM According to motogp.com Sekiguchi suffered "a thorax contusion with a possible lung injury." Was stable at the time, havn't seen any recent news on him (which is probably a good thing).
According to MCN he has broken his pelvis and fractured two ribs (http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/sport/sportresults/mcn/2007/august/aug13-19/aug1907brnomotogptarosekiguchibreakspelvisin250hor rorcrash/?R=EPI-93794). I can't remember seeing a worse crash for a long time.
Diatribe 21-08-2007, 11:26 AM Feared it was a lot worse than that at the time.. Luthi (I think) had a similar crash there a few years ago in the 125's but it still wasn't as sickening as that.
My photos came out okay, though nothing too special considering it's just a basic digitial camera.

125 warmup, and my base for raceday at the bottom of 'horsepower hill' (the straight before the final S bend). Not a bad place with a bigscreen there as well (and it was half the price of the stadium section):

First time I've heard the 800's properly, either the Suzuki or Duke take the best sound award.. Was awesome watching qualifying at the exit of turn 1 and seeing them slide it out. Missed out on photos of the campsite mentalness though :(

Looking strangely disappointed about having flown half way across Europe to watch the fastest motorbike riders in the world.
Nice to see some 'real life' pics from a GP round though.
It is a very tempting rideout destination. Next year I'm definitely going to a foreign race. I'm half wondering about Valencia still, but I'm not sure November would offer the best weather to ride down in.
Diatribe 21-08-2007, 08:33 PM That's just my (lack of) style
Going to Valencia, things should be okay once you hit Central France, but going there this year would probably mean only seeing only one race with anything to play for... Next year I'll be happy making anywhere I can, though in an ideal world where I had all the money I need, Mugello or Jerez would be the aim.
I'd recommend Brno though, isn't all that far, cheap compared to here and has decent viewing, organization, etc. Sachsenring I'd like to do as well, but tickets sell out for that months in advance.
mthielen 21-08-2007, 09:12 PM any chance of the moto GP coming to Belgium, would be a lot easier for me lol
