Talking Race my ghost!

The next two posts to this thread have attached "best run" replay files. These files contain only one lap. Your mission is to beat the lap time and post the resulting lap.

For ghost racing to work, both you and the ghost have to be on the same machine.

To view: use replay theater. If you can view it you can race it.

To race: go into tourist trophy mode, climb aboard the bike, select practice, free run, load best run replay, select "motodudes hotlap", then start.

When you get to the starting line for the first time you will see me as the ghost. I will stay the ghost until you do a better time. Save your "best run" ghost data and post it here for me or someone else to beat.

Show me the fast way around!

Re: Race my ghost!

(Just a quick note - I've set the forum up so it should now be possible to upload the 'replay.dat' format replays without putting them into a zip file)

Re: Race my ghost!

Ah. Turns out I've not unlocked the Fireblade RM bike yet. Or started the 'super' license. This might take a while.

(Lap looks annoyingly tidy, too! )

Jeez I'm pottering around on the SR400 cafe racer and having a ball!
Hmm maybe I can save that... this might work out quite well. Nice idea.

Re: Race my ghost!

Hehe, having just spent ages doing the license to unlock the bike I think that's probably the better option.

After a quick couple of laps I seem to be able to be a bit quicker for maybe the first 1/4 of the lap, but after that lets just say I could use practice.

Re: Race my ghost!

Yeah I can hit my lines nicely on the slower bikes but have difficulty recovering from small mistakes on the quicker machines. I think my limit at the mo' for nice, good looking laps is the RG500.
It's tough to find the time the game demands!

Re: Race my ghost!

I have been using the R6 Race Bike to chase the CBR1000 replay...

I can lap within a few seconds..

Which is why I'm definitely not turning my PS2 on again for another couple of days after this morning. I don't know if it's just me, but once I loaded up that ghost I just thought 'damn, one more lap' every time I screwed up.

Anyway, Motodude - your Trial Mountain time has now been beaten.

Replay
REPLAY.DAT

Previous Time: 1' 35.987
New Time: 1' 33.994 (I'm not sure how I did that either )

To be fair I did manage to get 2 wheels on the grass for very briefly at turn one but I can't do that time again so it'll have to do.

Thumbs up Re: Race my ghost!

Outstanding!

I know what you mean by the "just one more lap" thing. Nothing worse than knocking off a perfect lap, but blowing the final turn and getting past by the ghost just feet before the line.

Did you get that nasty headshake at the top of the hill? I had several violent crashes at speed up there while the front end was dancing.

Oh man, where am I going to make up two seconds? This is going to be fun...

Re: Race my ghost!

I'll tell you what is annoying and that's putting in a nice time, going to 'load best lap replay' to see if it was better than yours, realising it was and then going back to find the 'save best lap replay' option had disappeared.

Anyway if you can beat it I'm not even going to try and improve. I don't think I could squeeze another millisecond out of that lap time without spending about 24 hours straight trying.

Yep braking for that corner is evil. I ended up easing off the throttle a bit nearer the end as I knew I was onto a good time from the splits and didn't want to bin it there for the millionth time. The other nasty spot is the last corner, the 'flip flop' left-right one. I lowsided there more times than were funny.
