Re: TTBikeSim Superbike Championship Round One - High Speed Ring

managed a 1.11.1 fastest running race lap and 1.14 1st lap today on the mighty prilia rm. did you know the gear box trick from gt4 works in tt?

i just need to tweak my chassis set up a bit more to work on slightly worn tyres for the last two laps. getting out of the corner isnt the problem, its the getting in that is.

there is one thing im having problems with. in turn one when the corner tightens, why is it that the bike picks itself up, throwing me off line slightly instead of holding a steady line? the replay doesnt show im rubbing the track.

[edit - can we submit as many times/replays as wed like?]

Dom, the gearbox trick or "tranny trick" is something that came over into TT from GT3/GT4. What it does is close couples the gears for good accelleration and uses the final ratio to set max speed.

Go to the Edit setup.

Go to the transmission setup (obviously, this only works with race bikes)

Set Autoset slider all the to the right

Set Final Ratio all the way to the Right

Set Autoset all the way to the left (Setting of "1")

Adjust Final Ratio back to the left (taller gear/smaller number) to desired top speed.

Does this work on both auto and manual trans? I'm aiming for 100% completion before I try manual trans. It sounds somewhat stupid, I know, but I'm not all that coordinated. Besides practice, I need all the help I can get...

Yes, Gman...this adjusts gear ratios. Works whether you shift manually or use a "slushbox"

Re: TTBikeSim Superbike Championship Round One - High Speed Ring

Cheers for the info, NoQuarter. Is that not just setting close ratios for 1 through 5 and then having a long 6th gear? I'll have to give it a go later to get a better idea I expect.

doubt you'll be seeing and low anythings on this track from me. I hate this track and it does nothing to inspire me to try and get good at it. it's like the oval tracks IMHO. For this and N-ring it will just be about getting decent points and the rest will be shooting for "wins".

I start tonight working on this and see what happens. Yes it's very annoying when for no reason the game stands the bike up!!!

Also are we required to use the same bike through out the competition? I know I'll be sticking with the R1, but was curious if people would be made to stick with their choice. I think it would be more interesting if we had to pick a bike and stay with it through out the comp

Re: TTBikeSim Superbike Championship Round One - High Speed Ring

As I mentioned in the main rules & info thread I don't see any reason why people shouldn't be able to switch bikes between races if they wanted. Tbh I expect most people will just stick with the same bike throughout but there's no harm in picking up a different set of keys every now and then imo.

I quite like the circuit actually. It's not the best of the bunch but although I despise the oval tracks I quite like the fast, sweeping nature of this one. Will have to try and put in a time or two later I think.

Yeah, Wizrad that's me.
After playing for a couple of hours, my fingers are cramped, and I can't feel them. As if pressing the buttons through the controller is going to help me brake or accelerate faster. I know better, I just get a little frustrated. Maybe I should get into shifting gears, just for health reasons...

Re: TTBikeSim Superbike Championship Round One - High Speed Ring

dom - the gearbox trick gives you shorter gear ratios than you could normally get on all 6 gears if you had left the gearbox un"tweaked". then you tweak the final gear (not 6th) for topspeed (though the cube needed further tweaking from there)

question - in one of my runs, coming out of the chiacane, i ran wide and jumped maybe a foot of grass. landed on the raised pavement in the tunnel but didnt hit the wall. would that be legal? ive been aborting runs when i feel the bike bounce off the walls though.

my first replay will be on shortly. its 100% clean, though i did try to highside myself into oblivion exiting turn 1 lap 1. the ai is parked where i should be opening the throttle so ive to run way wide then cut it sharp under the ai. sometimes i get a good drive, other the tyre protests. this time i could "feel" the tyre protesting so i short shifted and the rear end was swinging back and forth down that entire short straight between turns 1 and 2 O_O

well, considering the italian bikes (execpt the 999r rm) are generally slower than the other superbikes, im thinking a win is out of reach . the cube is a fun bike though so im just seeing what i can pull off. i did my first sub 6 minute last night, then the ai starting pissing me off and i lost my speed. more time for laps tonight.
